By deleting the following: Sec. 1 (3) "Gasoline service station where no major repairs or car sales are permitted, and only upon approval of the Zoning Board of Appeals{" IL6-x B. By changing the following: (1) Sec. 1 (4) renumbered to Sec. l (3) and reworded as follows: Sec. 1 (3) Any other retail business Orservice other than a gasoline service station which has asingle floor arenot greater than 2,000 sq. £t, and is conducted entirely within the building, and whose primary porpoac i e the ordinary needs of the immediately surrounding residential neighborhood and is not dangerous, offensive or detrimental to the said neighborhood. After careful consideration the Board approved amending the Local Business Zone subject to several amendments. The amendments approved by the Planning Board were drafted as Council Order 146-X and submitted for Council action. I have discussed this question with Mr. Miller of the City's legal staff and it is felt that the necessary legal action relative to the required public hearing has been met. The proposal before the Board was as follows: "Deleting the following: Sec. L (3) "Gasoline service station where to major repairs o sales are permitted, and only upon approval of the Zoning Board of Appeals:" And substituting the following: Sec, l (3) Gasoline service stations are prohibited in a Local Business Zone: however, provided that a gasolines rvice station in existence prior to March L, L970, shall not be c sidered nonconforming in a Local Business Zone." The Board gave very careful consideration to the proposed changes, to the various viewpoints expressed, and to the concept and effect of such changes an the Local Business Zone.
