of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Bangor be amended by the fallowing changes:
A. By deleting the following:
Sec. 1 (3) "Gasoline service station where no major repairs or car
sales are permitted, and only upon approval of the Zoning
Board of Appeals{"

B. By changing the following:
(1) Sec. 1 (4) renumbered to Sec. l (3) and reworded as follows:
Sec. 1 (3) Any other retail business Orservice other than a gasoline
service station which has asingle floor arenot greater
than 2,000 sq. £t, and is conducted entirely within the building, and
whose primary porpoac i e the ordinary needs of the immediately
surrounding residential neighborhood and is not dangerous, offensive or
detrimental to the said neighborhood.
(2) Sec. 1 (5) renumbered to Sec. 1 (4) and reworded as follows:
Sec: 1 (4) The Zoning Board of Appeals is specifically granted authority
to permit exception to the above Sec. 1 (3) with the exception
of gasolines rvice station when the proposed u weld not be dangerous,
offensive ordetrimental to the mediately surrounding residential neighborhood.

Gentlemen:
Please be advised that the Planning Board held a Public Hearing
on April 6, 1970 on the question of amending the Local Business Zane.
After careful consideration the Board approved amending the Local
Business Zone subject to several amendments. The amendments approved by
the Planning Board were drafted as Council Order 146-X and submitted for
Council action.
I have discussed this question with Mr. Miller of the City's legal
staff and it is felt that the necessary legal action relative to the
required public hearing has been met.

RB: Amending Chapter VLII, Article ) of the Zoning Ordinance
Local Business Zone
Gentlemen:
Please be advised that the Planning Board held a Public Hearing on
April 6. 1970 to consider amending the Zoning ordinance, Chapter VIII, Article
7 Local Business Zone. The proposal before the Board was as follows:
"Deleting the following:
Sec. L (3) "Gasoline service station where to major
repairs o sales are permitted, and
only upon approval of the Zoning Board of
Appeals:"
And substituting the following:
Sec, l (3) Gasoline service stations are prohibited in
a Local Business Zone: however, provided that
a gasolines rvice station in existence prior
to March L, L970, shall not be c sidered
nonconforming in a Local Business Zone."
The Board gave very careful consideration to the proposed changes, to
the various viewpoints expressed, and to the concept and effect of such changes
an the Local Business Zone.

After considerable discussion, the Planning Board voted approval of
the following:
