To: The Municipal Officers
Pursuant to City Council Order 236-Y, passed June 28, 1971,
directing the City Engineer to proceed with construction of a
new roadway to be called Longrale Park, extending in a southwest-
erly direction from Union street, the following report is submitted:
Construction of the roadway and storm sewer has been completed
for a length of 480 feet southwest of union Street, and consists
of a 28 foot wide travel way having an 18 -inch gravel base and a
tar surface. A 6 foot sidewalk was constructed along the easterly
side, and the remaining area within the 50 foot right-of-way was
loamed and seeded. The storm sewer consisted of 386 feet of 10 -
inch asphalt coated corrugated metal pipe extending from the exist-
ing storm sewer on Union Street, and four new catch basins.
The total cost of the roadway construction w s $7,104.25.
Chapter XII, Art. 12, Sec. 1.6.1, of the Subdivision Regulations
of the Laws and Ordinances of the City of Bangor designates that
the city will pay $6.25 per lineal foot towards the total cost
of the construction of roadway which meets the standards of the
subject roadway. The city's share of the 480 feet of Longrale
Park would, therefore, be $3,000. The remaining amount to be
assessed against Mr. Donald C. Lewis, Jr., the original petitioner
for the roadway construction, is, therefore, $4104.25.
The actual cost of the storm sewer
construction was $2205.11,
s
of which 75% may be assessed against theproperties benefited.
The assessment against W. Lewis would, therefore, be $1653.83.
it is recommended that the assessments for the road and
sewer construction be levied as outlined above.
A plan showing the new roadway is attached.
