TO: The Municipal Officers
Pursuant to City Council Order 254-Y, passed July 26, 1971,
directing the City Engineer to construct an extension of the
sewer on Pierce Street to serve a portion of Union Street, the
following report is submitted:
The installation consisted of 152 feet of 10 -inch Class
3300 asbestos -cement pipe and 112 feet of 8 -inch Class 2400
asbestos -cement pipe, with two manholes. The actual cost of the
installation was $3423.90. Of this amount, $1451.00 is attributed
to the installation of the 8 -inch pipe, and the remaining portion
represents the cost of the installation of the 10 -inch pipe from
Pierce Street, which was considered to be a trunk line and non -
assessable.
Seventy-five percent of the cost of the 8 -inch sewer may
be assessed against the property benefited, making a total assess-
ment of $1088.25 against the property owned by Mr. Jusdon M. Grant,
Jr., the original petitioner for the sewer extension.
It is recommended that the a ent be levied. A plan Show-
ing the sewer installation is attached..
