Co AIRPORT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR 633 DEFINITION This is supervisory work in directing the airfield maintenance at Bangor International Airport which includes the runway, taxiways, and tl ramps; grounds keeping; and the z val operation during the winter months. Work valves responsibility for the immediate supervision of a fairly large group of semi -skilled and skilled workers engaged i airfield maintenance, grounds keeping, s val, and other airport projects. An employee of this class instructs subordinates and participates in the more ccopies maintenance work. General instructions a received at the outset of n en projects and the employee exercises considerable discretion in the actual execution of tasks. Work is reviewed periodically through inspections by the Airport Manager. ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK Plans, assigns and directs the work of subordinates in all ground main. tenance projects at the airport. Supervises the snow removal operation ofthe n way, taxiway, and ramps. Prepares and reports NOTAMSof runway condition to FAA. Supervises the construction and maintenance of all runways, taxiways and ramps. - Supervises a variety of general maintenance activities, such as the repair and erection of fences, patching of runways, taxiways and ramps, and airfield lighting. Instructs personnel in the operation of heavy equipment, and where neces- sary, supervises them in specific operations. Keeps time and work records and prepares works •edule. Performs related work a required. Assumes responsibility of airport operation as Airport Manager's duly authorized representative on assigned weekends or other absences of Manager. Is responsible for daily safety inspection checks of active aircraft areas. REBUIRED KNBWLEDGES SKILLS AND ABILITIES Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, materials, and equipment involved in the c and maintenance of airport property. Considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to maintenance work on airports. Considerable knowledge and skills in the operation of specialized equip. ment for airport maintenance. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinate employees and the general public. Ability to assign and supervise the work of varying sized crews of semi- skilled workers and to obtain efficient work results. Ability to detect needed repairs and to make necessary operation adjust- ments. Knowledgeable in FAA regulations pertaining to airport operations. DESIRABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Graduation from a standard high school. Considerable experience in airport maintenance and construction work, including same in a supervisory capacity.
