SUBJECT: Zoning Kenduskeag Stream Park Area (Council Order No. 375-Z)
Gentlemen:
Enclosed is a map defining the area
of the Renduskeag Stream that should
be zoned Parks and Open Space under theproposed zoning ordinance. I do not
feel that the Parks and institutional zone of the present ordinance would allow
for this type of use
radequately do what is intended. Therefore, I feel the
r
most logical c of action at this time is to zone the e s defined
herein, with and as part of the over all re -zoning c rrently under consideration.
The first section (sheet 1) starting at Harlow Street would pre-
sumably be included although we have not included the map here since the area
zoned would be the acquisition area as defined by the park proposal for
acquisition.
I do not feel, however, that zoning can or will adequately control and
preserve
such a natural a allow the potential future public usage, which
were the teen basic directions of the proposed acquisitions and development as
aPark area.
In defining the zoning line, we used the fallowing criteria to establish
what land should be included.
1. The purpose is to preserve the natural fee [urea of the area.
