ORDERM )NW WFIERBAS, several private copers total and institutional groups have acted and maintain directional signs on the public rightsmf-way of the City of Bangor; and WHEREAS,other private commercial and institutional groups haverequested a perm n from the Bangor City Council to event similar directional signs an the public rights-of-way of the City of Bangor, and WHEREAS, it to deemed in the beet interest of the citizens of the City of Bangor to prohibit the atection of any privately awned directional signs on the public tights -of -way of the City of Bangor, NOW, THEREFORE, Be it Ordered by the Bangor City Council, as follows! ORDERED THAT the City Council hereby revokes, effective March L, L973, any previously granted permission to any private commercial and/or institu- tional group, firm o e corporation to a and maintain directional signs on the public rights-of-way of the City of Bangor; and ORDERED TMT the Code Rnforeemeet Officer is hereby authorised and directed to contact all known ownrof such directional signs and order the removal of each signs prior t Marcb 1, L973; and ORDERED TMT the Code Enforcement Officer is hereby authorized and directed to cause all signs rema ining on the Beside right-of-way on or after March 1, 1973 to be removed and disposed of to a manner as he deem fit; and BE IT FURTHER ORDERED THAT the Planning Director 1s hereby directed to draft and submit to the Bangor City Council, on or before March 1, 1973, a proposal for the erection and maintenance by the City of Bangor of uniform non -promotional directional signs to be Located on the public rights-of-way Of the City of Bangor.
