SUBJECT: Petition relative to 234-Z, Amending Zoning Ordinance
On September 13, 1972, Edward S. Stern, Eeg. requested that I prepare
the necessary forms to initiate a referendum relative to the following:
"234-Z, Ordinance, Amending Zoning Ordinance - Lsal Business and Residential
"A" to General Business - A parcel of land north of the intersection of School
Street extended and Broadway.".
The Ordinance was given f_nal passage September 11, 1972.
The question, prepared by Attorney Stern, appeared on the Referendum
Petition as follows: "Shall the Ordinance, Identification No. 234-Z, a copy
of which is hereunto attached be adopted?"
On September 14, 1972, to,
registered voters of the City of Bangor orig-
inated the petition by signingthe same at the office of the City Clerk. The
petition forms were then available, at the Clerk's office, during office hours
for the ne# 30 business days. mhe final day for signing was October 27, 1972.
At the close of business on that day 590 persons had signed the petition and
the Board of Registration verified that 568 of these signing were registered
voters of the City of Bangor.
The bound book of signatures i available for your inspection at the
Clerk's office and will also be available at the meeting of Noaember 13th.
For your convenience, I have enclosed the appropriate article of the Cr�ty
Charter; also, a blank sheet from the petition book.
