TO THE MUNICIPAL OFFICERS: November 19, 1973
In accordance with City Council Order No. 49-Z passed December 13,
1971, directing that the existing roadway known as Hildreth Street
North be extended for a distance of approximately 1,200 feet to
serve property now owned by Hewes Body Company, the following
report is submitted:
The roadway has been extended for a distance of 1,175 feet, c -
isting of a 24 foot wide travel -way, having a tar surface, with
12 foot wide gravel shoulders. in addition, the existing 18 inch
culvert at the southerly end has been replaced with a new culvert,
and the existing 6 inch Searsport-Limestone fuel pipe line has been
encased where it crosses the new roadway.
The tbtal actual cost of the roadway construction was $27,942, of
which 50%, or $13,971 may be assessed against the properties which
benefit, as follows:
PROPERTY OWNER PROPOSED ASSESSMENT
Hewes Body Company $ 4,657.00
Kagen-Lown & Company 4,657.00
Edward C. Hughes 4,657.00
TOTAL: $13,971.00
in accordance with the City Engineer's previous proposal contained
in the report attached to City Council Order No. 49-Z, it is recom-
ended that the assessments against Kagan Lown Company and against
Edward. S. Hughes he deferred until such time as their property i
developed, provided that a suitable recordable instrument to that
effect is received from them. It is further recommended that the
assessment against Hewes Body Company be levied immediately.
A plan showing the roadway construction is on file in the office of
the City Engineer.
Respectfully submitted,
