CITY OF BANGOR, MAINE
Engineering Department
TO THE MUNICIPAL OFFICERS: October 23, 1973
Pursuant to City Council Order No. 214 -AA, passed August 13, 1973,
directing the City Engineer to make a study of the cost of extending
sewer service to 871 Hammond Street, the following report is sub-
mitted:the sewer would be extended from the existing Silver Road
Sewer, so-called, located south of Hammond Street. The extension
would consist of 272 feet of 8" Class 2400 asbestos cement pipe
and one manhole, said sewer located near the westerly right-of-way
line of the former right-of-way known as Carmen Avenue, and said
ewer terminating in the center of the street between 871 and 875
Hammond Street.
The total estimated cost of the sewer is $2600 0£ which 50%, or
$1300 may be assessed against the property benefited if the assess-
ment is paid upon completion of construction. There are three
properties which would benefit by the installation of the sewer
extension, as follows:
Mrs. Joseph F. Mason, 875 Hammond Street
Mr. Waldron E. Sawyer, 871 Hammond Street (formerly W. Peter Gotlieb)
Mr. Reginald A. Hoy, Lot opposite 875 Hammond Street
Based upon 50% assessment, the individual assessments against each
lot would be $433 each. All three property owners have been con-
tacted
n-tacted and have indicated their approval to the 50% assessment
upon completion of construction.
It is recommended that the sewer be constructed and that the necessary
funds be established to cover the cost of construction.
Respectfully submitted,
S ` 7
