One on the corner Of Leonard at Mildred

printed in said city, for one week prior W the_ Sept. 4,, _ 19] 3 ropy of said order and
notices, see posted and published, is harem mmexed andmade part of this report.
And that the said City Engineer met at the time and place of meeting stabbed in the notices
and proceeded to wip Ltd discontinue Carmen Avenue and portions of Gray
Street and Leonard Street as fO11OW5]
The entire length of Carmen Avenue extending south west from Hammond
Street for a distance of 1160 feet mese or less to land owned by the
City of Bangor. The center line of the Carmen Avenue right-of-way is
located 521 feet more or less north west from the northwesterly right-
of-way line of Beach Avenue, and said Carmen Avenue right -o£ -way was
originally laid out to a width of 60 feet. Said right-of-way is shown
on a plan prepared by Philip J. Coolidge and recorded at Penobscot
Registry of Deeds, Plan Book 16, Page 25 and 26.
The portion of Gray Street to be discontinued includes that portion
lying west of the westerly line of lots 20 and 22 as shown on said
Coolidge Plan, and extending west to land owned by the City.
The portion of Leonard Street to be discontinued includes that portion
lying to the west of the westerly line of lots 14 and 15 as
shown on said Coolidge Plan, extending in a westerly direction to
Carmen Avenue.
None Of the above mentioned streets were ever Constructed nor accepted
s public ways, but were dedicated right -o£ -ways shown on the above-
mentioned Coolidge plan.
There appeared at the time and place of the hearing Mrs. John E. Porter
of 68 Mildred Avenue, and Mrs. Arthur R. Tilley of B5 Mason Avenue,
who live in the vicinity of the above described right-of-ways. Both
Mrs. Porter and Mrs. Tilley Claim that since their properties were
a part of the same subdivision as the right-of-ways to be discontinued,
they felt that they had an
interest in the right-of-ways which they
did not wish to abandon. The City Engineer informed them that the
City's discontinuance of the right-of-ways meant only that the City
had no further interest in the right-of-ways for street purposes, but
that we did not intend to imply that the land should revert to any
Parent or persons , or that the rights of any individual to the land
should be violated. Both agreed with this and were not opposed to
the discontinuance or abandonment of the right-of-ways by the City.
Since roads have never been constructed within the right-of-ways,
and since the area
is not suitable for residential development a
Originally intended due to the close proximity of the Airport, it
iscommended that the City discontinue
and abandon all rights
thait may have in the above describedright-of-way, and remove
said right-of-ways from the City Map. It is further recommended that
no damages be paid to any person as a result of the discontinuance
Respectfully submitted,
