IN am Damon May 30p 1973 PASSED. ITY CLERK 149 AA ORDER Title, Acaanti PetltionSe+ap, E tegeian an lie+wwvul Atraet....................... Introduced /and filed by Comcilman B41 Hammond St. Bangor, Maine 04401 May 23, 1973 Bangor City Council City Hall Bangor, Maine 04401 Attn: Mr. John Frawley, City Engineer Dear Mr. Frawley: I presently own a house with one apartment at 841 Hammond St. and a duplex house at 847 Hammond St. in Bangor. Because of recent septic tank problems, I am being forced to consider tying into the City sewer line. However the closest line to my houses is approximately 400 feet. It is my understanding that a law exists whereby i order to have a sewer line ran by the City of Bangor to the vicinity of ones property, the property -owner must pay 758 of the cost. It is my feeling that this antiquated law should be updated i of the high tax rate we property - owners pay to live in Bangor. Since some of our taxes are used to maintain the city sewers and ran new sewer lines, I feel a more fair ratio would be to charge the taxpayer 508 and the city would pay the other 508. In view of these facts, I request that you make the following motions at the next Bangor City Council meeting: 1. That the City of Bangor carry the existing sewer line on Nason Avenue to Hammond Street so that I may run a sewer line to it. 2. That the City of Bangor change the law, which states that the taxpayer pay 758 of the cost to bring a sewer line to the vicinity of his property requiring the City to pay 50% and the taxpayer pay 508. 1 sincerely appreciate your cooperation in this matter. very truly yours, Frank J. Murray eb
