THAT the Fire Chief is hereby authorized and directed on behalf of the
City of Bangor to execute an agreement, a copy of Which is attached hereto and
made a part hereof, with the City of prewar providing for mutual assistance in
extinguishing fires in either community.

THIS MEMOMNIRIM OF AGREEMENT made this day of
1973, by and between the CITY OF BANGOR and the CITY OF BANNER, both
corporations located in the County of Penobscct, State of Fm Inc.
W I T NESSE T B:
WHEREAS, by virtue of 30 M.R.S.A. 0£152 (3) the parties hereto
are authorized to enact administrative ordinacces authorizing their respec
municipal fire departments c aid and assist i extinguishing fires in other
municipalities within or outside the State of Maine: and
WHEREAS, pursuant to 30 M.R.S.A. X2152 (3) the Parties hereto
Have enacted administrative ordinances (Chapt. Il, Art. 14, Sec. 6, Ordinance
of the City of Bangor; Chapt. 9, Art. 9, Sec. 205, Ordinances of the City of
Brewer) authorizing such aid and assistance.
NOW, TRONCYCRF, the parties hereto tun mutually covenant and agree
as follows:
1. In the event that, in the judgment Of the Fire Chief or other
officer in charge of the Fire Depar[bout of either Party in which a fire o
other disaster is occurring or is about to occur of such magnitude that said
fire or disaster cannot be adequately coped with by Local fire fighting equip
ent and personnel, said officer may call on the other Party's Fire Departmen
to furnish available fire fighting equipment and personnel for u either
(1) in combating the fire or other disaster, or (2) as a standby reserve to
set all other calls that my occur before the local fire fighting equipment
is free t0 take care of them.
2. Upon receipt of such a call, the aiding Party shall furnish
such equipment and personnel as may be available for the stricken municipalit
cepa that said aiding party shall always be permitted to retain sufficient
fire fighting equipment and personnel to fight any fire or to meet any
emergency within its own boundaries that may be reasonably anticipated.
3. Services performed by either Party to this Agreement shall be
rendered without cost of reimbursement to such Party.
4. This Agreement shall become effective upon the date hereof and
shall remain in full farce and effect until cancelled by mutual agreement of
the Parties hereto, or by ten (LO) days' writren notice by either party to
the other.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have hereunto set their
hands and seals the day and year first written above.
