THAT WHEREAS former City Euployees who have retired under the "City
Pension Plan" are not presently entitled to survivor benefits; and
WHEREAS, many of the spouses of deceased former employees are, or will be,
in financial needy and
WHEREAS, inty c
recognition of the mayears of s represented by such
employees, the City o£ Baeyer deems it appropriate that certain adjustments
in its pension benefits be made to supplement the income of spouses of de-
ceased employees who are in financial need.
ORDERED THAT the Finance Director and the Personnel Director be authorized
and directed to propose to the City Council by April 1, 1974 a revision of
pension benefits to include
1, a supplemental benefit to the spouses of deceased employees who
have retired under the "City Plan", and
3, suggested a Ceptions to such benefits, based on factors such as
income, assets, other retirement benefits, etc., and
ORDERCD FURTHER THAT the Finance Director and Personnel Director be authorized
and directed to seek information from potential beneficiaries concerning the
need for such supplemental benefits.
