WRERBAS, the National Park Service has evaluated and reconsuanded
that it qualify as a Registered Natural landmark, a site known as the Orono
Bog; and
I REAS, the City Of Bangor cows property Imated in the Orono
Bag; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bangor intends and agrees t0 continue to protect
and use for purposes c ngiscenc with the preservation of its natural integrity,
all such City Owned Property within the Orono Bog,
By the City Council of the City of Bantu:
RESOLVED, THAT the City Council of the City of Bangor hereby approves
and authorizes the City Manager to sign, an application and Letter of Agreement
submitted to the City Of Bangor by the National Park Service, registering
portions of parcels of land Owned by the City of Bangor located in the Orono
Bog, as part of a Registered Natural Landmark to be known as the @ono Bog,
being portions of parcels of land designated on the Assessor's Map R65, Lot
2; Map R66, Lot 5{ and Map R73, Lot ],

I am sorry that neither you nor another representative of the City of
Bangor was able to attend the brief ceremony lest Saturday for the
Presentation Of certificates designating Orono beg as a Registered
Fatural Landmark.
I as therefore Pormarding the City's certificate, enclosed, for what-
ever display or use of it is desired.
The National Park Service appreciates a great deal the City's coopera-
tion in regiatering this outstanding natural area.
You may be interested to kmow that Pangor,e wlllingIsss to register
Orono Dog helped to result in somumbat of a milestone in the National
Park Service's 10 -year-old Natural Landmark Program in Coat this is
the first time as many as seven co-owners of a Natural Landmark site
have unanimously agreed to register their site. The total number of
designated Natural Landmarks in the United Statue now stands at 294.
