PLANNING DEPARMENT
November a, 1974
00: The Honrable City Council
MR: The Planing Hoard -
SUSTOM: zone change - Broadway at Penobscot street. council Order 8 5 -AC
gentlemen:
Please be advised that the Planning Board held a public hearing on
the above request Novnhar 18, 1974.
The Planing Board gave very careful consideration to the request for
a none change and to the proposed use as sell as those opposed to the change.
In iNs consideration; the Planing Board took vete of the following:
(a) The site is in one of the major historical areae in Bangor and listed
on the National Register of Historic Places.
(b) The area is a residential area for multi -family uses.
(c) A commercial m would be a intension into this area and presumably
precipitdteadditional commercial tuning.
(d) Such a rezoning could. in fact, be a spot caning.
(a) The needs for effective historical zoning which would preserve such
areas and allow economic use.
After such consideration, the gleaming Board voted unanimously to
recommend against a change of coning from Residential 5 to Commercial.
Sincerely.
