Summary
On November 2, 2021, Bangor voters approved amendments to the City Charter moving various dates back by
10 days to accommodate for accessible electronic ballots for voters with disabilities. This Ordinance change will
move the time frame for when nomination papers and petitions are available from no sooner than 90 days
before the day of election to no sooner than 100 days before the day of the election.

ORDINANCE, Amending Chapter 14, City Elections, Article III City Clerk, by Changing the Time Frame for the
Availability of Nomination Papers and Petitions
WHEREAS, Bangor voters approved amendments to the City Charter moving various dates back by 10 days
to accommodate for accessible electronic ballots for voters with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, this amendment will move the date nomination papers and petitions are available to allow
candidates sufficient time to collect signatures before the date petitions can be returned to the City Clerk.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR AS FOLLOWS, THAT
Chapter 14 of the Code of the City of Bangor is amended as follows:
§ 14-9 Duties of City Clerk.
It shall be the duty of the City Clerk to provide nomination papers and petitions to candidates who request the
same no sooner than 99 100 days before the day of election.
