that developed on the haciendas of Old Mexico; and
WHEREAS,
By the mid-1 800s, charreada-style competition became popular in the
Southwest, particularly in Texas and California where Mexican and Anglo
ranch hands worked together; and
WHEREAS,
Although bull riding was a popular exhibition event, it, like most other rodeo
events, lacked standardized rules. That changed in 1936, with the creation of
the Cowboy's Turtle Association; and
WHEREAS,
Believing that bull riding, as the most popular rodeo event, could stand alone
without sharing the limelight, in 1992, 20 bull riders gathered in a hotel room in
Scottsdale, Ariz., and each contributed $1,000 to the creation of the
Professional Bull Riders, Inc (PBR); and
WHEREAS,
For the sixth year in a row, PBR (Professional Bull Riders) are performing at
the Cross Insurance Center-, and
WHEREAS,
PBR's Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour (PWVT) was the last large event prior
to the Covid-1 9 Pandemic and is the first large event after the reopening of the
State of Maine-, and
WHEREAS,
PBR continues to grow in popularity in the City of Bangor, bringing citizens
together to enjoy their displays of skill.
NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Daniel J. Tremble, Mayor of the City of Bangor, on behalf of the City
Council and the citizens of Bangor, do hereby recognize PBR (Professional Bull Riders) for their
commitment to the City of Bangor. " A
