May 3, 2019
Minutes
The meeting was opened at 8:32am with the following members present:
Jane Bragg, Andrea Littlefield, Edythe Dyer, Ed Chernesky, Mary Donovan, Tristin Greenlaw,
Amy Roeder, Liam Riordan, Owen Smith, Lovern Stockwell
Betsy Lundy (City staff liaison), Cory Weston (City Council member)
Absent: Tristine Currier
Lovern Stockwell was welcomed as a full member of the commission.
MOVED, SECONDED and VOTED to approve Minutes of April 5 meeting
Cultural Asset Survey - John Bapst students working on project should have initial information
available by the end of the school year. They have been provided with a grid of categories
including, Description, Category, Location, GPS Coordinates, etc.
May Grant Cycle update - Four grant applications have been received from two individuals
(Beckett Mundell-Wood for a lego model of the library and Orson Horchler for a wheat paste
mural in honor of Tony Sohns ) and two organizations (Bangor Symphony Orchestra for
programming at the Bangor Arts Exchange and Maine Writers and Publishers Association for
Maine Literary awards to be presented in Bangor).
ARTober - Liam reported that local colleges are being asked to sponsor at $250 each.
Neighborhood groups will be invited to participate. Betsy will handle the Google calendar.
Social Media Update - Andrea will continue to work on this.
Discussion of 5 year policy - Initial discussion of 5 year policy to be continued.
A decision was made to hold the January meeting on January 10 rather than the regular first
Friday. No meeting in July.
