R LVM, THAT the City Council, by adoption of this Resolve, does
hereby determine and declare that the Charter anandment described herein
should be considered and is in the best interests Of the inhabitants of the
City of Bangor, and be it further
RESOLVED, the City Clerk is hereby authorised and directed, pursuant to
30 M.R.S.A. 011911 at seg., as amended, to provide for published notice of
a heating to be held on in the City Council

said proposed amendment and a brief explanation thereof being as follows!

"Sec. 9.Ao person who holds any other elected public office or offices under
this City, County or State shall be qualified to be a member of the City Council,
unless and until he o she has vacated such other office or offices. Any office
or Marcher of the City Council shall be deemed vacant if the incumbent thereof
holds, ex or qualifies for any other elected public office under this
City, County sora State) and any vacancy thereby created shall be filled accord-
ing to the provisions of Article II, Section 4."
sx2lanation: The purpose of this amendment is to prohibit members of the
City Council from occupying multiple public offices.

Notice is hereby given that the Bangor City Council will hold a public
hearing in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Sensor, Maine, on

S. 1976 at 6:00 P.M. for purposes Of coftSideriug the following Proposed
amendment to the Bangor City Charter:
That Article II of the Bangor City Charter be amended by adding Sec. 9
to read as follows:
Effective a ary 1, 1978 no person who holds any other elected
Public office or offices under Chis City, County Or State shall
be qualified to be a member of the City Ccancil/ unless and until
he or she has vacated such other Office or offices. Any office
of Member of the City Council shall be deemed vacant if the
