CITY OF BANGOR, NAIVE Engineering Department To the Municipal Officers: October 5, 1976 Pursuant to a request received from the Penobscot Savings Bank for a coat study for the extension of sanitary sewer service on Union Street in a southeasterly direction from the Airport Collector Sewer, the following report is submitted: The proposed sewer extension would begin at the Airport Col- lector Sewer which is presently under construction near the entrance to the Airport Mall Shopping Center, and would extend in a south- easterly direction for a distance of 275 feet. The installation would consist of 8" pipe and one manhole. The total estimated cost is Fifty-seven Hundred Dollars 5,700.00), of which the City would pay fifty per cent, or Twenty- eight Hundred Fifty Dollars ($2,850.00), and the remaining amount would be assessed against the adjacent property, as follows: .T Owner Frontage Estimated Asseesment East Side Theodore W. Berenson Devisees (Airport Mall Shopping Center) 180 Feet 8 675.00 Penobscot Savings Bank 200 Feet750.00 w West Side City of Bangor (non -assessable) 380 Feet 19425.00 Total: 829850.00 The land on the West side represents Airport property fronting on Onion Street, for which the City may eventually wish to assess if the property is developed and if sewer entry is required. The Penobscot Savings Bank has indicated that they are in favor of the sewer installation, although the Agents for the shopping center property have indicated that they are presently w -2- opposed, and would request that the assessment be deferred if it is decided to construct the sewer at the present time. If this were the case, the assessment against the Airport Mall property would be increased by fifty per cent to One Thousand Twelve Dollars and Fifty Cents ($11012.50). It is recommended that the sewer extension be made to permit the development of the Union Street property. Respectfully submitted, John T. Frawley, City Engineer
