THAT Chapter 11, Article 1, Section 3.3 be amended by the addition of a
new subsection 3.3.1, as follows:
3.3.1 Residency requirement. After January 1, 1977, n
person shall be qualified
-
for appointment by the City Manager or any department
head to a position of permanent employment in the
administrative service of the City unless such person
shall within six(6) months from his or Bar date of
hire establish a permanent domicile within the
boundariesofthe City of Bangor. The period for
establishing a domicile hereunder may be extended for
a period act 'exceeding six (6) additional months by
the City Manager. All persons so hired or appointed
_ shall continue to ma tataia their domiciles within the
boundaries of the City of Bangor for the entire period
of their employment with the City. The requirements of
this subsection shall not apply to any respect to these
persons hired or appointed to permanent positions of
employment in the administrative service prier to
January 1, 1977. The requirements of this ordinance
shall be in addition to all other qualifications for
employment by the Cityas may be imposed by statute,
ordinance or regulation.
Be it further ordained by the City Council of the City of Bangor, as
follows;
THAT the following provisions of Chapter II of the Ordinances of the City
of Bangor be hereby repealed;

STMWW OP PACS: The purpose of this amendment is to iegvixe all
employees appointed by the City Manager or by any department head after
January 1, 1977 to establish a domicile within the City within six (6)
months from their date of hire, or, with the approval of the City
Manger, within twelve (12) monthsfrom such date. Thin amendment also
provides for the repeal of conflicting provisions presently applicable
to employment in the Motor Pool, Airport, Public Services, police and
Fire Departments.
