Over the years, the City of Bangor provided significant funding to support the American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront. Council Order 20-045 authorized the termination of an agreement with the American Folk Festival and forgiveness for any debts owed to the City. At this time, the festival has discharged all remaining debts owed. As part of its final dissolution, the festival would like to direct the remaining cash assets of approximately $2,000 to the City of Bangor, Commission on Cultural Development, to support arts and culture in Bangor. Business & Economic Development Committee 05/18/2021 Recommend for passage Consent 05/24/202121-193 CITY OF BANGOR ORDER 05/24/2021 21-193 Okafor Accepting a $2,000 Donation from the American Folk Festival to be used for the Commission on Cultural Development Grant Program WHEREAS, the City of Bangor, Maine was previously the site of the American Folk Festival; and WHEREAS, after dissolution of the event, there are funds remaining that the American Folk Festival wishes to donate to the City of Bangor; and WHEREAS, in the spirit of the American Folk Festival, these funds will be used to support arts and culture in Bangor through the Commission on Cultural Development's grant program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, THAT The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept a donation of $2,000 from the American Folk Festival to be used for the Commission on Cultural Development grant program to support arts and culture in Bangor.
