ORMSM, .
TEAT WEREAS, the 'City Council, by Council Order No. 303 AC,
passed August 6, 1975, authorized the transfer of funds totalling
$215,000,00 for the construction of the so-called School Street
Extension between the Mason C allege access road and Broadway,
and further directed the City Engineer to develop final plans
and cost estimates, and
WBEREAS, detailed field surveys have further determined
that the alignment of the proposed roadway with the existing
School Street will cost $295,000.00 due to the necessary
acquisition of additional real estate for right-of-way, as
well as extensive improvements of the existing School Street
extending east from Broadway,
NOW THEREFORE, be it _
ORDERED, that the sum of $80,000.00 be transferred from
the Reserve for Future Construction - General (92-2235), to
cover said additional costs, and be it further
ORDERED, that the additional coat of said roadway shall
be borne by the city of Bangor and will not be assessed against
the abutting properties.
STATEMENT OF FACT
The location of the roadway to coincide with the existing
School Street has been recommended by the Planning Board, Al-
though the construction costs in that location will be within
the original cost estimates, estimated right-of-way costa will
be increased substantially by the nC Bsary acquisition and
demolition of a residential dwelling, and by extensive improve -
menta to the existing portion of School Street east Of Broadway.
An alternate location, which would shift the intersection of the
road at Broadway approximately 500 feet to the north as recom-
Carded by the Engineering Department, can be accomplished within
the original budget of $215,000.00.
