RECEIVED CITY OF BANGOR CITY CLERK'S OFFICE '76 JO 5 PH 3 tl CITY OF BANGOR, MINE _ Engineering Department T January 2, 1976 To the Municipal officers: Pursuant to City Council Order No.f365 AC passed October 15, 1975 directing the City Engineer to make a,oat study for the extension of sewer service on Grant Street, the following report is submitted: The proposed sewer extension would consist of the instal- lation of 140 feet of 8" pipe and 1 manhole, extending north from the existing sewer on Congress Street. The sewer i initially intended to serve the property owned by Michael DemkeW of 15 Grant Street. The total estimated cost of the sewer extension is $2,300.00, of which 50%, or $1,150.00 would be paid by the City. The remaining share would be assessed proportionately againA the property which benefits by the sewer installation. In addition to the Demkow property at 15 Grant Street, a lot of land owned by W. and Mrs. John M. Long adjacent to their house at 28 Grant Street would also benefit by the ewer installation. It is felt that the benefit is equal between Long and Demkow so that their individual assessments would be $575.00 each. Mx. Demkow indicated that he was in favor of the sewer installation, and Mr. Long indicated that he was opposed. Since the Long property is vacant and would not receive any immediate benefit from the sewer nstallation, rr e it is proposed that the assessment be deferred until such time as development might occur and sewer entry was required. In this respect, the deferred assessment would be increased by 50%, to $862.50. It is recommended that the sewer as described above be constructed as soon as weather conditions permit. Respectfully submitted; John T. Frawley, City Engineer
