RBBOLVRD.
WHEREAS the City Council does hereby determine and declare the
year 1976 has been a year of growth, change, and frus-
tration developing from the sputtering economic problems
of the state, nation, and the world, and

that our city is no longer the same community by the
Penobscot River that it was a hundred years ago --known
as the world's largest lumber port, and -
WHEREAS, today Bangor is a city that is developing the Bangor
International Airport, now established as a major East
Coast technical, refueling, and customs processing stop
for airlines and charter jets flying the North Atlantic
Great Circle Route, and
WHEREAS, we are no longer the master of our own destiny, but rather
the captain of a ship that is being swept along by the
powerful winds of a changing world,
Be it hereby RESOLVED that by our prayers, hopes, and efforts
today, by the year 2076 our city will have reached
a harbor of tranquility and prosperous growth
