City of Bangor - Requiring a Permit for Electrical Installations

TBAT Chapter VII of the Ordinances of the City of Bangor be
amended by adding a new Article 3 as follows:
ARTICLE 3
PERMIT MR ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS
Sec. 1 Permit Required. No person, firm or corporation
shall make any electrical installa-
tion in the City of Bangor without first obtaining a
permit from the Code Enforcement Officer.
Sec. 2 Electrical Installation Defined. "Electrical installs -
cion" shall mean Lae
installation, repair, alteration and maintenance of
electrical conductors, fittings, devices and fixtures
for hearing, Lighting, power purposes or heat activated
fixe alarms and electrically supervised manual fire
alarms and sprinkler systems. It shall not include the
installation or repair of portable appliances and other
portable electrical equipment, installation of which
involves only the insertion of an attachment plug into
a fixed receptacle outlet. Ic is the meaning and intent
of this subsection that the word "portable" shall not
include or apply to any type of fixed electrically
operated or driven equipment.
Bee. 3 Permit. Each permit issued by the Code Enforcement
Officer shall state on its face the name of
the person, firm, or corporation to whom it is issued,
the nature and location of the work to be done, and its
date of issuance. Each permit shall be valid for a
period of one year and shall be nontransferable.
3.1 Permit fee. For interior wiring, a fee of $2.00
shall
be chargged for each permit. For
entrance wiring, a
fee of $.05 per amp, up to a
maximum of $25.00,
shall be charged for each permit.
Sec. 4
State License Required.
The Code Enforcement Officer
shall not issue a permit for any
electrical installation
unless satisfied that the person,

complies with
the licensing provision
of Chapter 17, Title
32 of the
Maine Revised Statutes,
as amended. .
Sec. 5
Exceptions. This ordinance shall not apply to work
excepted from the electrician's licensing
requirements of Chapter
17, Title 32 of the Maine
Revised
Statutes, as amended.
Sec. 6
Penalty. any person, firm, or corporation which makes

shall be fined not less
than $25.00 nor more than $100.00
