TO: City Council
FROM: City Clerk
SUBJECT: Resignation of City Clerk
This memo is to inform the City Council that W xasignation as City Clerk
will be on the agenda of the October 24th Councilmeeting.
The Clexk's office has been operating with a 25% Cut in the Staff since
last Mach. At Nat time It man 'suggested that we try the new arrangement.
After discussions with the City Manager, Council Chairman and Chairmen of
the Finance Committee it appears that this cut is to be permanent. There
is no way the Clerk's office can operate efficiently, accurately and to my
satisfaction with a staff of three. The hiring of a temporary clerk typist
has been permitted through the end of December so that City Council action
Say be typed in the permanent records, but since Council records take only
a small percentage of our time, this really means very little.
I ask Nat my resignation be effective December 16, 19]] because of the
December 5th election. It would be difficult for the nee Clerk L
his r her duties in the middle of election procedures, Road at leastsa
month would be needed to hire the new Clerk.
The past two and one-half years have been most interesting aM challenging.
The only real disappointment has mass the look of confidence in vy judgment
concerning my staff.
