Councilman DEPfNITION This consists of technical electronic computer programming work. An employee in this class is responsible for the preparation of computer programs and maintenance of existing progress. Projects are assigned with general instructions by a technical superior who provides assistance and direction when necessary. The employee is responsible for the preparation of now charts, the execution and testing of the assigned programs; the implementation of the tasted programs, the instruction of how the progress work to the department imol(ned and the documentations of all programs after they are on-line. Assists in studying o=ar ter problems and existing pmgrms to Improve present applications. Interviews employees of other departments prior to actual programming -commonly referred to as system development. Writes complex computer programa based on the departmental interview and after consultation with the Data Processing Manager. Participates in preparing tests to check and prove the accuracy and insults of new programs. Initiates the parallel shot and instructs the using department on useage of the out -put results. Documents the finished product. R➢�1 IRID I(NOWLEDGE. SKILLS AMD ABILITIES (Education, computer knowledge, typing 1¢ ls, ogic throw; process, etc. required for compktent performance on the ab.) Thorough knowledge of the hardware and software abilities of a compeer. Reasonable skill in at least one programing lanausge., Ability to system flow chart. Ability to recognize organizational and procedural problems and to make recommendations. Skill in the use of inductive and deductive reasoning. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING MLsimmn of two years experience as e programmer for small or medium-sized computerh and graduation from a standard high school, supplemented by college level courses in advanced programming and Data Processing. It is desirable to have a degree in computer science from a four-year collage or university.
