Applications for designation were received from the coniers of these three struc tubes, and the proposeddeaignetions were reviewed and approved by the Director of the Maine Historic preservation Commission. Me dorsa P. lassie Boase, located at 88 Fountain Street is an ovtatanding example of the ma and style Iin excellent condition, and is eligible for the National Register. It was constructed in 1874-5 by the architect. George W. Orff. Maplewood, located at 8 Montgomery Street, mansard,ris also a well-preserved also eligible for the Register. Its high placement at the end of a of treescmtriButes much to the unique quality of thin historic house• Poemeite, located at 423 Hancock Street should not be designated until further study and negotiation with the aweThe majority of the Commission felt that the recent renovation of the front entrances was not in keeping with the period or architecture of the house. The banner has agreed to work further with the Commission on this problem, se, the Commission would like to postpone final action on this particular designation. The Historic preservation Commission requests that Council Order 365AE be amended to delete the designation Of Bcomsite. A separate order will be submitted later When corrections to the entrances andwhen the structure's correct name has been documented. The Commission then requests that the Council give final passage to Council Order 365AE as amended.
