CSW,6Slta,_..Ct,{`RCLdc,.iay,. cxxy cxel Councilman CITY OF BANGOR, MAIMS Engineering Department August 3, 1977 To the Municipal Officers: pursuant to previous discussions with the Developers of the new shopping center to be constructed on the land now or formerly owned by Hort Holstein located west of Hogan Road and north.of Interstate Highway I-95, a study has been completed relative to the necessary relocation of a portion of the existing force main sanitary sewer, known as the K -Mart Sewer. Although a sewer easement was previously obtained from the owner of the property to install the force main, the location of the sewer would encumber the feasible development of the property, and would interfere with the foundation walls of the proposed new shopping center complex.- This would necessitate the relocation of 785 feet of 8 inch force main pipe, and the installation of 4 new manholes. The total estimated cost of the work is $11,000.00, of which the City would pay moo, and the remaining $5,500.00 would be paid by the Developer., Kravco, Inc. In addition, the Developer would grant to the City the necessary easements for the relocated sewer, as well as other portions of the existing sewer which is located on land formerly owned by the State of Maine. The Developer has indicated that he is in favor of the project and the proposed assessment. - Since the relocation of the sewer is considered to be prefer- able to constructing the building over the sewer, and since it is not possible to relocate the building so as to avoid the sewer, it is recommended that the work be accomplished as soon as the shopping center construction begins. A Plan showing the proposed sewer relocation is on file in the office of the City Engineer. Respectfully ssubmitted,4ohn ecTsr`1 City Engineer 1
