This Resolve will accept and appropriate an additional $69,000 for FY21 Overdose Prevention funds provided by the State of Maine. On July 13, 2020 Resolve 20-203 was passed to appropriate grant funds in the amount of $212,500 to the Overdose Prevention and Naloxone Distribution Program from the State of Maine. On April 12, 2021 Resolve 21-130 was passed to increase the contract amount by $194,700. The additional $69,000 will be directed to the purchase of Naloxone which will be distributed in the program's five-county Naloxone distribution area of Penobscot, Piscataquis, Washington, Aroostook, and Hancock counties. The Public Health and Community Services Department has been a recipient of the overdose prevention portion of this grant since 2008; the contract was expanded in 2020 to include Naloxone purchase and distribution. Government Operations Committee 05/17/2021 Recommend for passage First Reading & Referral Government Operations Committee 05/10/202121-179 CITY OF BANGOR RESOLVE 05/10/2021 21-179 Nichols Accepting and Appropriating $69,000 of Grant Amendment Funds for the Overdose Prevention and Naloxone Distribution Program. Whereas, the City of Bangor has previously accepted $212,500 in grant funds from the State of Maine for the Overdose Prevention Program; and Whereas, the City of Bangor has previously amended the contract to accept an additional $194,700; and Whereas, the State of Maine has additional funds in the amount of $69,000 to contribute to the Overdose Prevention Program; Be it Resolved by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, the City Manager is authorized to accept and appropriate an additional $69,000 in Overdose Prevention Funds provided through the State of Maine for the Overdose Prevention and Naloxone Distribution Program.
