To the Municipal Officers:
Reference is made to City Council Resolve No. 83 AD passed
January 12, 1976, authorizing the extension of the sanitary
sewer on Grant Street north of Congress Street. All work has
been completed, consisting of the following:
The installation consisted of 140 feet of 8 inch pipe
extending north from the sewer on Congress Street, with a
manhole at the terminus. The total cost of the sewer instal-
lation was $1,546.91, which compared favorably with the original
estimate of $29300.00. Of that amount, the City would pay 50%6
and the remaining $773.46 would be assessed against the properties
benefited, as follows:
Name and Address Assessment
Dr. & Mrs. John M. Long
28 Grant Street - $386.73
Mr. Michael Demkow
15 Great Street 386.73
Total $773.46
The sewer installation was madetoreplace a private connec-
tion from the Demkow property which crossed private property owned
by others, and was done at his request. For this reason, it is
recommended that the assessment against the Demkow property be
levied immediately. The house owned by Dr. and Mrs. Long at
28 Grant Street is presently connected into another sewer; how-
ever, the adjacent yard area could eventually benefit from the
sewer installation if it were later subdivided into an.othei house
lot. For this reason, it is recommended that the assessment
against the Long lot be deferred until such time as the property
might be subdivided and entry into the sewer is requested. How-
ever, if this option is chosen by Dr. Long, then the assessment
would be increased by 50% to $580.10, as specified in the original
Council Resolve.

A Plan showing the actual location of the sewer is on file
in the office of the City Engineer.
