By Ne CNy Csax4 a/t6 C(tyafBampe: "SOLVED, THAT, the City of Bangor acquire by eminent domain pursuant to its duly adopted Community Development Program; property owned by Welke Singal and Liza Berg and designated as Parcel 15-6, located at 179 Hancock Street, Bangor, Maine and described as follows: A certain lot or parcel of land, with the buildings thereon, situated in said Bangor, and bounded and described as follows, to wit: Beginning at a point in the southerly line of Hancock Street, in the middle line of an eleven foot passageway described in a deed from Sam Taines to David P. Striar, dated July 31, 1907, and recorded in Penobscot Registry of Deeds, Book 770, page 427; thence southerly at right angles along said middle line eighty-eight (88) feet and eight (8) inches to land formerly of Patrick Wall; thence westerly on said Wall's line forty- four (44) feet and one (1) inch, more or Less, to land formerly of one McGuire; thence northerly on said McGuire's land eighty-eight (88) feet eight (8) inches to said line ofHancockStreet; thence easterly on said street line forty-four (44) feet and six (6) inches, more or less to the point begun at. Also the easements created by said deed from Sam Taines to David P. Striar and by deed of like date from said David P. Striar to said Sam Taines, recorded in said Registry, Book 770, Page 426, and subject to the easements in favor of said Striar's lot created by said two deeds last mentioned. ' BE IT FARTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, in accordance with independent appraisal of value of the above described property, the amount of damages determined to be just compensation for the acquisition of the fee simple interest in the above described pro, perty is $27,000.00. STATEMENT OF FACT: 30 M.R.S.A. 54854 authorizes municipalities to acquire by eminent domain, property in designated slum or blighted areas. In order to exercise this power, the City Council must first adopt a "Resolution of Condemantion" to be served upon the property owner(s). After service is completed, the Resolution is resubmitted to the City Council for its approval or disapproval. If the Resolution is approved, the City Council shall cause an action to be commenced in the Superior Court.
