The Historic Preservation Commission SUBJECT: Proposed Name Change of Standpipe Historic District to Thomas Hill Historic District, Chapter VII,. Article 4, Section 5.1.1 A Public Hearing regarding this proposed change of name was held by the Historic Preservation Commission on December 6, 1978. ..After considerable discussion by members of the publid, Commissioners, and Consultants, the Commission voted 3 to 1 for this proposed name change. The rationale for the change, and of most, was that the "name Thomas Hill tong pre -dated the building of the Standpipe in 1895. - The Standpipe was felt to be only one monument in an imposing historic neighborhood. If the historic district receives new additions, they .will be further removed from the Standpipe and even more closely identified with the historic geographical name, Thomas Hill. Thus, the Commission recommends passage by the Council of this name change. 'iY ice. ✓4 . YKaa Saz cQ_ a ac ons Historic Consultant Preservation Consultant
