Re: Location Permit Revision
Water Main Project on Main St.
Bangor Nater District
On June 26, 1978 the Bangor City Council approved a location
permit (271 AF) to construct 20", 16", and .1911 water lines on Main St.,
Lincoln St., and Thatcher St. The contract for this project was
signed several weeks ago and Work has begun on the project.
Late last week it was discovered that concrete pavement exists
along the proposed pipe route from Cedar St. to the 1 395 overpass.
This situation was asurprise to all concerned and poses significant
potential extra costs to the Bangor Water District. These potential
costs may in fact be high enough so that the project i celled. One
possible solution may be to change the route of the proposed pipeline
and install it along the sidewalk instead of in the road a
was
previously planned. Other advantages to this proposed routeinclude
less traffic problems and reduced street maintenance during construction.
If the Bangor Water District can obtain prompt approval from the
Council and if the proposed route appears economically feasible, the
change will likely be made.
On behalf of the District and ourselves, because the contract is
already in progress and construction s fast approaching the area in
question, we will appreciate any special consideration the Council can
offer to our request.
Verytrulyyours,'.
U h,
