HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-07-24 309 AF ORDER309 Al Introduced by Councilor Soulas, and 24, 1976 CITY OF BANGOR (TITLE) (orb#, -Approving Variances in the Curb Cut Ordinance - Oak Street By CUM Coa*sd oftAu Cug of Bangor: ORDERED, THAT WHEREAS, the installation of new curbing and sidewalks on Oak Street is presently being undertaken as part of the downtown Urban Renewal program, and WHEREAS,_ driveway openings to existing commercial properties are being established as part of the new construction to conform to Chapter VI, Article 9, Sec. 3 of the Laws and Ordinances, and -WHEREAS, it has been determined by the City Engineer that the configuration of existing buildings on two properties will require a variance to the thirty-six foot maximum driveway width as allowed by said Ordinance, namely, one forty-six foot wide driveway for Darling's, at 97 Oak Street, and one forty-six foot wide opening, for Rapaport Auto, 32 Oak Street, and WHEREAS, the City Engineer comments to said variances in accordance with Sec. 3.11 of saidOrdinance due to the probable hardship placed upon the operation of those businesses if the Ordinance were maintained, HOW THEREFORE, be it ORDERED, that said variances be granted. STATEMENT OF FACT: In the case of Rapaport Auto, this Order replaces a previous Council Order requesting a fifty foot curb out against the City Engineer's consent; however, the other main entrance to the Rapaport building is being reduced to thirty feet, which makes the request for a forty-six foot opening not unreasonable. ..
