CITY OF BANGORI MAINE
Engineering Department
July 20, 1978
To the Municipal Officers
Reference is made to City Council Order No. 195 AT passed
April 109 1978, directing the City Engineer to determine the
cost of installing sanitary sewer service on Hogan Road between
Penjajawoc Stream and Interstate Highway I-95. This request was
initiated by a petition from Sullivan Ford Sales, who contemplate
the constructionof a building on Hogan Road, and who would have
need for the sewer. Plans and Cost Estimates have been completed,
which would provide for the following:
A. surplus pump station presently owned by Rre City would be
installed on the northeast side of Hogan Road near Penjajawoc
Stream, connected to the pump station which serves the Eastern
Maine Vocational Technical Institute on the southwesterly side
of Rogan Road by a 6 inch force main. An 8 inch gravity sewer
could then be installed, extending from a point near the Inter-
state Highway ramp to the pump station, serving the entire
frontage on the northeast side of Rogan Road between the Inter-
state and the Stream.
The total estimated cost of the installation is $51,500.00.
Of this amount, the City's share would be 50%, with the remaining
amount to be assessed proportionately against the property frontage,
as follows:
Name Frontace Estimated Assessment
Southwest Side
State of Maine
(non -assessable)
19574

$13,514.00
Northeast Side

Total:
-1-
$25,740.00
The State of Maine land is listed as being non -assessable,
since it is presently served by an existing sewer and force main.
The land of John J. Davis is also considered non -assessable,
since it consists of only a twenty foot wide right-of-way connected
to back land, which would be subject to future assessment if the
sewer is further extended to serve that land.
All of the above mentioned property owners are in favor of
the proposed sewer installation.
The constructibh of this project is considered necessary
to properly serve the proposed building of Sullivan Ford., and
would also open up additional considerable frontage on Hogan
Road for further development. The installation of the pump
station will be somewhat temporary, to be discontinued when the
Penobscot East Interceptor Sewer and the Penjajawoc Collector
Sewer are installed, hopefully within approximately two years.
It is recommended that the sewer be constructed as soon
as possible.
Plans showing the proposed installation are on file in the
office of the City Engineer.
Respectfully submitted,
J! Frawley,
City Engineer
