Some concern was voiced about the obtrusive- ness of the unpainted aluminum flashing applied to the steeple in its reroofing two years ago. Father Raymond Bertrand and Constantine Albans of the Parish Council assured the Commission that this flashing would be painted to harmonize with the shingles in duV course. The church was designed by Patrick Charles Neely in 1855, with the steeple and stained glass windows added somewhat later. It is a good example of 19th centry American Cothi$ Style architecture and has long been a feature of Bangor's skyline. The church is already on The National Register of Historic Places and its nomination meets with the approval of the State Preservation Offices. riN-4G:s tL. l'.e4_ i;}nttoira ucct<— Afstoric Preservation Consultant
