Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a 1st Amendment to the Lease & Use Agreement with American
Airlines at Bangor International Airport.
This Order authorizes a 1st amendment to the lease and use agreements between the City of Bangor
and American Airlines at the airport. In July of 2016, the parties agreed to a new 5-year term, with
options to extend for two 1-year terms. Given the uncertainty in the economy due to the COVID-19
pandemic, the Parties desire to exercise the option of a 1-year extension. Extending this agreement
provides the parties the ability to monitor the economic and financial situation through this
unprecedented period. The parties intend to negotiate in good faith during this extension period. All
terms and conditions of the current agreements shall remain in effect during the next 12 months.

Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a 1st Amendment to the Lease & Use Agreement with American
Airlines at Bangor International Airport.
WHEREAS, The Lessor is the owner of an Airport, commonly known as “Bangor International Airport”,
formerly known as Dow Air Force Base and located in the City of Bangor, County of Penobscot, State of Maine
(hereinafter sometimes referred to as the “Airport”); and
WHEREAS, The City of Bangor and American Airlines are parties to 5-year lease and use agreements dated
July 1, 2016, with two 1-year extension options; and
WHEREAS, Given the uncertainty in the economy due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Parties desire to
exercise the option of a 1 year extension; and
WHEREAS, Extending this agreement provides the parties the ability to monitor the economic and financial
situation through this unprecedented period; and
WHEREAS, The Parties intend to negotiate in good faith during this extension period; and
WHEREAS, In all other respects, the terms and conditions of the agreements between the Parties remains in
full force and effect.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BANGOR,
That Catherine M. Conlow, City Manager, is hereby authorized on behalf of the City of Bangor to execute a 1st
amendment to the lease and use agreements between the City of Bangor and American Airlines at the airport
extending that lease for one additional year pursuant to an option in said lease.
