I odacfedf.ndd ft dby e - Councilmen CITY OF BANGOR, MAINE Engineering Department April 39 1980 To the Municipal Officers: Reference is made to City Council Order No. 34 AS passed November 27, 1978, authorizing the extension of the sanitary sewer on Third Street west of Cedar Street. All work has been completed and the final costa determined, as follows: The sewer extension consisted of the installation of 140 feet of 8 inch pipe extending in a westerly direction on Third Street from the existing sewer at Cedar Street. The total actual cost of the sewer installation was $1,994.769 which compared favorably with the original estimate of $2,000.00. Of that amount, 50% would be paid by the City of Bangor, and the remaining amount would be assessed as follows: North Side Richard A. LaGrange $498.69 South Side Non-assesaable (no benefit) 498.69 Total: $997.38 The south aide of Third Street is indicated as non -assessable since that property is already connected into a sewer -,which lies further to the south. Furthermore, that property is substantially below the grade of Third Street so that future connection into this Third Street sewer would not be possible. In accordance with previous practice, and as recommended in the initial report to the City Council, the City, would pay the non -assessable portion of the sewer cost. It should be noted that Mr. LaGrange prepaid Me estimated share of $500.00 for the sewer installation, and would be due a refund on the balance. A Plan showing the sewer installation is on file in the Office of the City Engineer. Respectfully submitted, - John T. Frawley, City Engineer
