CITY OF BANGOR
(TITLE) (0rb9Ta__paio state Retirement'Benefits -_Police Officers
WHEREAS, the City of Bangor, by prior action of its City Council, has
provided special retirement benefits to police officers equal to one-half of
their average final compensation after having completed twenty (20) years of
service with the City of Bangor{ and
NNSgNgN, the City Council and Teamsters local Union No. 48, have agreed
through the collective bargaining process to change said benefits asthey may
apply to police officers hired after January 14, 1980 to increase the period
for qualifying for such special benefits to twency-five (25) years of service
with the City of Bangor
NW, MMM , By the City Council of the City of Bangor:
ORDERED, THAT the City of Bangor does hereby adopt, pursuant to 5
M.R.S.A. 4.1092(3), in lieu of retirement benefits otherwise provided antler
the Naive State Retirement System, retirement benefits for all persons hired
after January 14, 1980 as police officers for the City of Bangor equal to
one-half of their average final compensation after having completed twenty-five
(25) years of service with the City of Bangor, and be it further
ORDERED, THAT the Personnel Director is hereby authorized and directed
to take all necessary

notify the proper authorities of the Maine State Retirement System of this
action.
