HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-12-10 13-036 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 13-036 Date: December 10, 2012 Item/Subject: Order, Authorizing the City Manager to Execute an Agreement with the Maine Department of Transportation — Occupy Six Parking Spaces at Gallagher Place for the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge Project, MDOT #18320.00 Responsible Department: Engineering Commentary: The attached Order would authorize the City Manager to execute a Local Project Agreement with Maine Department of Transportation. On October 22, 2012, Council Order 12-335 authorized the City Manager to enter into an agreement with the Maine Department of Transportation for a detour on Main and Water Streets, in preparation of painting the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge, MDOT PIN #18320.00. In conjunction with the painting and restoration of the bridge, MDOT has determined that it will be necessary to acquire "Temporary Construction Rights" for property owned by the City of Bangor. The area that is needed consists of six parking spaces in Gallagher Place (.59 acres), which will be utilized for one month to accommodate the restoration, to the bridge. A qualified appraiser has valued the .59 acres at $2,800.00 as just compensation to be paid to the City. The Infrastructure Committee reviewed and recommended this for approval on November 27, 2012.
