Under the current City Ordinance automobile recycling licenses are issued annually. However, in 2004, the State law was amended to allow recycling businesses to license for a 5 year period. If approved, this amendment will allow the City Clerk's office to issue five year recycling licenses and set the fee at $300, which is equivalent to five one-year licenses under the City's current fee schedule. f This amendment will bring the City's ordinance in line with state law while also reducing paperwork and saving the business owner four year's worth of advertising fees, or nearly $1,000. Further, State law also now requires these licenses to be issued on an October to September schedule, rather than the January to December schedule of most licenses. The Clerk's Office will pro -rate the cost for any renewal licenses this year so that City license periods come into alignment with State law.
