Item No. 13 0 2
Date: November 26, 2012
Item/Subject: ORDINANCE, Amending Chapter 85, Business Licenses, of the Code of the
City of Bangor, By Changing the Expiration for Beano and Games of Chance
Licenses to Three Years
Responsible Department: Clerk
Commentary:
This Ordinance will amend Chapter 85, Business Licenses, to provide for three year licenses for
Beano and other games of chance. Community organizations that operate beano games have
asked whether the City could approve their operation for a period of three years, as opposed to
the one year currently allowed by ordinance. This is permitted under state law and is currently
the practice of many other communities. Since the City does not charge for these licenses, there
will be no effect on City finances. This item will be reviewed by Government Operations at it's
December 3, 2012 meeting.
