HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-11-26 13-022 ORDER COUNCIL ACTION Item No j 13 0124 Date: November 26, 2012 Item/Subject: Order, Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Bangor and AFSCME Council 93, representing certain Public Works employees. Responsible Department: Executive Commentary: This Order authorizes the City Manager to execute a collective bargaining agreement with certain employees at Public Works. Negotiations between the City and Union have resulted in a Tentative Agreement which has been ratified by the Union. This agreement follows the most recent contract that expired on June 30, 2012. The Agreement has been negotiated within the guidelines established by the City Council and includes the following: a three year term; wage adjustments of 1.0% year one; 1.0% year two and the addition of a step on the wage scale; and 2.0% year three; updated health insurance rates and corresponding date changes, agreement to close the most expensive health plan January 1, 2015, adjustments to safety footwear allowance, revisions to the work schedule, assignment of equipment, leave of absence provisions, and related housekeeping changes. The agreement was reviewed with the Council in Executive Session on November 14th and is presented with the recommendation of the Management Negotiation Committee. Be it Ordered by the Bangor City Council than the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Bangor and AFSCME Council 93 representing certain Public Works employees for a term commencing July 1, 2012 and ending June 30, 2015 in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Tentative Agreement reached between the City and Union Negotiating Committees.
