HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-06-18 Infrastructure Committee Minutes Infrastructure Committee Minutes June 18, 2019 ATTENDEES Councilors: Gretchen Schaefer, Gibran Graham, Clare Davitt, Sarah Nichols, David Nealley Staff: Richard Cromwell, Eric Willett, John Theriault Public: Jody Clayton – 170 Park St, Marianne Holt – 173 Park St. AGENDA 1. Discussion: Update Paving Program for FY20 th Eric outlined the paving program and stated it would go out to bid June 16. They would be trying a 12.5 polymer mix on selected locations and noted Haskell Road and Harlow Street would be paved with the new mix. Vote: Moved and seconded, unanimous. 2. Discussion: Update Park Street & Somerset Intersection John outlined and provided a map of the project area. Proposed alterations would include eliminating parking, installing curbing, sidewalks, crosswalks, and realigning the travel lane. There was discussion of the hazards associated with the intersection. John Clayton was in favor of the one way and expressed the need for parking on the hill. Marianne Holt also had concerns about parking on the hill close to the businesses. She addressed speeding and near misses, the need to control the Center Street area, and requested yellow flashers. She also requested permit parking instead of two hour parking. John indicated the area didn’t meet MUTCD for flashers and would need to try other methods. Councilor Nealley expressed concern for removal of parking spaces in association with the alterations and recommended bring this item back to Committee for further discussion. Councilor Nichols suggested meeting elsewhere with the remaining citizens in attendance who wished to express their opinion, as the meeting was nearing adjournment. 3. Solid Waste Commercial Hauler Richard Cromwell explained that this would be a change in definitions, primarily what can and cannot be accepted under the revised Ordinance.
