HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-01-11 21-072 Resolve 01/11/202121-072 01/11/2021 21-072 Airport Resolve 001-001 Title, Resolve Accepting and Appropriating FY 2021 Airport Improvement Plan (AIP) Entitlement Grants in the Amount of $2,500,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration and $75,500 from the Maine Department of Transportation for Approved Projects at Bangor International Airport This Resolve will authorize the acceptance and appropriation of FY 2021 entitlement grants not to exceed $2,500,000 from the FAA and $75,500 from the MDOT under the Airport Improvement Plan (AIP) program. If approved these grants will be used for the following projects; 1.) Master Plan - This includes a terminal study, pavement management plan, energy audit/sustainability, airport land-use plan, and updated capital improvement plan; 2.) Runway ASR relief and repairs - This includes necessary runway repairs due to alkali silica reaction (ASR) causing pavement deformation issues within the concrete underneath the asphalt pavement; 3.) Taxiway A and M repairs - This is for repairs to the shoulders on these taxiways which are deteriorating. These projects are included in BGR’s FAA approved 5-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). First Reading 01/11/202121-072 CITY OF BANGOR RESOLVE 01/11/2021 21-072 Davitt Accepting and Appropriating FY 2021 Airport Improvement Plan (AIP) Entitlement Grants in the Amount of $2,500,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration and $75,500 from the Maine Department of Transportation for Approved Projects at Bangor International Airport WHEREAS, the City of Bangor, Maine is the owner of an airport located in Bangor, County of Penobscot, State of Maine, commonly known as Bangor International Airport; and WHEREAS, the airport shall submit applications for FY 2021 entitlement grants from the FAA and MDOT under the Airport Improvement Plan (AIP) Program; and WHEREAS, the total estimated grant amounts will be used for the Master Plan, ASR runway repairs, and taxiway repairs; and WHEREAS, these projects are included in BGR’s FAA approved 5-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, THAT The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept and appropriate the FY 2021 entitlement grants awarded by the FAA not to exceed $2,500,000 and MDOT in an amount not to exceed $75,500 under the Airport Improvement Plan (AIP) program. The total estimated grant funding will be used for the Master Plan, ASR runway repairs, and taxiway repairs projects.
