HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-11-23 21-026 Order 11/23/202021-026 11/23/2020 21-026 Parks & Recreation Order N/A Title, Order Authorizing the Development of a Skateboard Park in Hayford Park and Authorizing Fundraising for Additional Amenities This order will authorize staff to develop the final location of the new skate park between 13th Street and the third base side of Mansfield Stadium in Hayford Park. This Order further authorizes the collection of donations designated for support construction of additional amenities for the Skate Park. Government Operations Committee 11/16/2020 Recommend for passage Consent 11/23/202021-026 CITY OF BANGOR ORDER 11/23/2020 21-026 Nichols Authorizing the Development of a Skateboard Park in Hayford Park and Authorizing Fundraising for Additional Amenities WHEREAS; The City has been attempting to finalize a location for a new skate park within Hayford Park and; WHEREAS; The Parks, Recreation, and Harbor Advisory Committee reviewed and approved a location between 13th Street and Mansfield Stadium within Hayford Park, and; WHEREAS, the City's design/build contractor has designed a Phase I project within the city budget; and WHEREAS, the contractor included a potential Phase Two for consideration as part of their design concepts, and; WHEREAS; Members of the Parks, Recreation, and Harbor Advisory Committee wish to assist members of the skate board community with fund raising efforts to construct Phase Two of the project, therefor; Be it Ordered by the City Council of the City of Bangor, That The final location for the skate park is to be located in an area of Hayford Park between 13th Street and Mansfield Stadium and that the staff is authorized to take necessary action to construct the facility in that location; and Be It Further Ordered, That Pursuant to Section 33-9.1 of the Code of the City of Bangor City Staff is hereby authorized to participate in fundraising efforts to assist with the costs of construction of Phase 2 of this project, and the Finance Director is hereby authorized to accept such donations. The Finance Director shall establish such procedures as she deems necessary to insure that any donated funds, goods, or services are eligible for a tax deduction, are appropriately received and accounted for and are used specifically for the purpose intended by the donors.
