HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-11-23 21-025 Order 11/23/202021-025 11/23/2020 21-025 Parks & Recreation Order N/A Title, Order Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Facility Use Agreement with American Red Cross, Northern New England Region This order will authorize a Facility Use Agreement with American Red Cross, Northern New England to use the Parks and Recreation Center as a disaster relief shelter. The City has made improvements to the building for this purpose of a shelter and/or warming center when needed, utilizing federal emergency management funds. The Red Cross has assessed the building and it meets their requirements for a sheltering facility in times of disaster. This agreement only applies when the Red Cross requests the use of the facility and they will manage the activity at the Parks and Recreation Center. Recommend for passage Council supported grant funded construction to create this in order 19-380. Consent 11/23/202021-025 CITY OF BANGOR ORDER 11/23/2020 21-025 Okafor Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Facility Use Agreement with American Red Cross, Northern New England Region WHEREAS, The City has made improvements to the Parks and Recreation Center so that it may be used for a warming center and sheltering in times of need, and; WHEREAS, Council Order 19-380 authorized the use of 2017 FEMA funds for the purpose of acquiring a generator for the Parks and Recreation Facility to make it suitable for an disaster shelter; and WHEREAS, The American Red Cross, Northern New England staff has toured and assessed the Parks and Recreation Center and approved it's use for a disaster shelter in times of need, and; WHEREAS, The American Red Cross would request emergency shelter use as needed and manage the sheltering activity in an emergency. Be it Ordered by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a Facility Use Agreement with American Red Cross, Northern New England Region to use the Parks and Recreation Center for the purposes of providing relief during a disaster pursuant to the terms included in that agreement.
