The lot is 3.6 acres and is bounded by the former Spectacular Events Center, the Griffin Rd., the entrance road to the MeANG base and the MeANG base itself. A drainage swale nearly bisects the lot from the northwest to the southeast. The Maine Air National Guard’s request is a continuation of several previous requests beginning in 2008 to acquire a portion of Lot 18. The MeANG wants the land in order to enhance the security at the entrance to the facility. They propose to add traffic calming measures, a rejection lane, increase commercial inspection capacity and to continue to provide access to the facility leased to the Eldur Corporation. There is no compensation being proposed for the land. The MeANG has received final approval to acquire the land and construct the project.
